This mod seeks to give more depth to the other 3Xs of the game by adding additional game elements or refining the existing ones to reward players who give more strategic thought to the non-combat side of the game.
It's up to debate whether Sins succeeded in this goal, but I think all can agree that of the 4Xs of "explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate", Sins is much more focused on the exterminate than on the others.
If neither of these suits your needs, hopefully others will be updating their work in the coming days.Sins of a Solar Empire is often described as a 4XRTS game, or a game that tried to merge the action and tactics packed gameplay of a Real time strategy game with the deep, complex, empire wide strategy of a 4X turn based game. The factions from the original game are retained, giving you nine factions total to engage in cross universe warfare with. Basically it takes all the improvements from Enhanced 4X and (at this moment) adds three Star Wars factions: The Galactic Empire, The Imperial Warlords, and the Rebel Alliance. If you are looking for more factions to play with, there is Star Wars: Interregnum ( Installation).
Other key features include hero units, a whole new set of planets and skyboxes, and lots of minor bug fixes to the game. This mod tries to flesh out the other non-combat aspects of the game, such as exploration, economics and diplomacy. As a 4X-RTS hybrid, Sins is focused most on the "Exterminate" part of the genre. :-/ You'll have to wait on Stardock to fix that. Also the mods will not fix some of the base issues with the 1.83 patch, like the lack of weapon sound effects. Of course I'd recommend you spend some time with the base game first, since mods almost always make things more complicated for learning the game. Just a heads up that you have some mods to choose from now.
